about

'Power of the Mind' is a single and music video which highlights the effects of ill mental health in young people and is raising funds for Young Minds who support the mental wellbeing of children and
adolescents.

The project aims to encourage those who suffer from mental ill health to break free from negative or intrusive thoughts by speaking to someone.

'I want to inspire individuals to reach out for help, as this is one of the most important routes to recovery.' Missy Mcanulty - singer and songwriter of Power of the Mind.

You can donate by purchasing the single here, so if you love the track........you can buy it for £3 or even more for this fantastic charity!

The aim is to reach a target of £1500 for the project.

The team that made this happen gave up their time and worked very hard to try and spread positive messages about mental health through music. If its £3, £5 or £20 all donations help to raise money for Young Minds and we would be so grateful.

About the charity

Young Minds is a fantastic charity that supports the mental wellbeing of children and young people. Through the multiple schemes that they run, the organization works with adults and young people themselves, to understand poor mental health and how we can tackle it all together.

How the project began

Singer and songwriter Missy Mcanulty wrote 'Power of the Mind' earlier this year, motivated by her own personal experience of how it can feel when mental health weighs you down. The song includes a collaboration with musician Anthony A-Mens Mensah, who is an artist that also can identify with the core message within the song.

Together with producer Alex Fernandez the three of them have compiled this finished product, a track which is able to really focus viewers attention on the differing traumatic thoughts and feelings which can be generated.

With the single complete, Missy then approached director Ben Jordan of PC Productions to direct and co-write a music video. The actors she sourced over a number of weeks were via casting websites or her personal connections who wanted to support the project in their own way.

The actors involved are those who have been impacted in some way by mental ill health. This was a deliberate part of the casting requirements for the video. Missy wanted to ensure the emotions of all actors could come from a truthful place and mirror their real life experiences.

The video displays characters in a battle with their own mental health, and what can happen when a person is afraid to reach out. The lyrics serve as a narrative to the emotions of all three main characters.

Mental health can be so hard when it's fought alone, let's try and talk more so that we can help people not to suffer in silence.
